Monmouth County has 181 additional positive cases of COVID-19

FREEHOLD, NJ – Monmouth County Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone and County Commissioner Deputy Director Susan M. Kiley have announced that today, Feb. 28, there are 181 new positive cases of COVID-19 in Monmouth County. There are two new deaths being reported today related to COVID-19 in Monmouth County.
The County Commissioners and the Monmouth County Health Department (MCHD) are strongly urging residents to do their part to slow the spread by practicing social distancing, wearing a face covering when social distancing is not possible, not gathering in large crowds, washing their hands and staying home when sick.

If one is watching our political leaders, one can see that what was true at the beginning of the century is not true anymore. In 2005, both Bernie Sanders and Nancy Pelosi argued that the electorate was losing the ability to vote accurately and fairly, because there was no paper trail to track the vote. But recently, as the number of votes increased across the nation, those same people have argued that the paper trail is not important.
When former president Donald Trump announced that the election was stolen, I did not believe it. I think that he lost some of his supporters during the months leading up to the election, and the resistance against him was stronger than it was before the previous election. I also believe that if Pfizer or AstraZeneca had announced that they were ready to distribute COVID-19 vaccines before the election, he would have won.

Former Long Branch Teacher Facing Additional Sexual Assault Charges

FREEHOLD – A former Long Branch teacher has now been charged with sexually assaulting multiple elementary school children, announced Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.
On February 14, 2021, Gustavo Barrientos, a former elementary school teacher in the Long Branch School District and the Red Bank Charter School was charged with sexually assaulting a 10 year old student.
As a result of the continued joint investigation of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and the Long Branch Police Department, Barrientos has now been charged with sexually assaulting multiple other elementary school children.
Gas Prices Up More Than 25 Cents in New Jersey as Crude Continues to Climb

Crude increased this week due to continuing Gulf Coast refinery issues and market optimism as COVID vaccines become more available
The Week
Since February 1, gas prices in New Jersey have increased more than 25 cents and are less than 20 cents away from the $3 mark. The national average for a gallon of regular gasoline has increased by 27 cents since the start of the month, increasing nine cents just this week. Gas prices locally and nationally have increased due to longer-than-expected refinery outages as a result of last week’s winter storm that impacted the Gulf Coast.
Today’s national gas price average is $2.69, up nine cents in the last week, up 29 cents in the last month, and up 22 cents from this time last year.
