ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ - The Rev. Michael Riley will tackle the stewardship of pain Sunday in a sermon entitled "Taking Care."
The new pastor's message at the 10 a.m. service at the First Presbyterian Church will focus on how we handle the pain and suffering of our lives, depending on our relationship with the Lord.
Riley also will continue his "mystery bag" children's sermon series when youngsters try to "stump the pastor" by placing a personal "treasure" in a brown paper bag. The pastor then picks one bag and creates a children's message from its contents.
In addition to being the church's pastor, Riley is a columnist, staff writer and editorial writer at the Asbury Park Press. His weekly Press column, "Only Human," appears on Fridays.
The 121-year-old, handicapped accessible church is located at Third and E. Highland Aves. and offers extra parking in a new municipal lot next to the Christian Education building at 17 E. Highland Ave.
