HHRS Superintendent Fedina Resigns

HIGHLANDS, NJ - Kathryn Fedina has resigned as Superintendent/Principal of Henry Hudson Regional School.
The school board on Wednesday accepted her resignation effective June 30.
The board also accepted the resignation of its board secretary Katherine McDonald and the school's substance abuse awareness coordinator, Karen Van Natten. Both will be leaving early next year.
Fedina's salary is $129,323 and McDonald's salary is $122,623. Fedina has been the superintendent of the school since 2001.
Fedina noted only that there were "other opportunities."
In other business, the board voted in favor of a resolution to trim the 2010-2011 budget of $10,134,452 by $290,000. The budget was defeated by voters in Atlantic Highlands and Highlands.

Allen American Legion Post 141, Atlantic Highlands. Doyle, who succeeds Thomas Veth, was joined in the post officer corps by Peter E. Donoghue, first vice commander; William Phillips, second vice commander; David Carr, adjutant; Frederick Rast, treasurer, and Wilbur Bishof, chaplain.

For Russ Berrie Award for Making a Difference
Middletown and Little Silver Residents to be Honored for Giving Back to Their Communities
MAHWAH, NJ - Ceremonies to present the 2010 Russ Berrie Award for Making a Difference and honor Garden State residents for their unselfish dedication to serving others will take place Tuesday, June 1 at Ramapo College of New Jersey. The Honorable Thomas Kean, former New Jersey State Governor, will be the ceremony’s keynote speaker.
Among the 11 finalists are the founder of a girls’ sports league, the founder of an organization that grows fresh produce to donate to a food pantry and the founder of an organization that helps the less fortunate know that every dream can be realized through hard work and determination.
The top 3 finalists, chosen by a selection committee comprised of eminent New Jersey business leaders and professionals, will receive cash awards of $50,000, $35,000 and $25,000 from the Russell Berrie Foundation. Other finalists will receive grants of $5,000.

ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ - The Coastal Jersey Parrot Head Club is looking for sponsors to help with the 7th Annual Feeding Frenzy fundraiser with the “Sauce Boss” and D.J. Jeff Allen being held on June 6, 2010. The proceeds from this event will benefit the A.A.C.C. (Atlantic Area Community Churches) Food Pantry. This food pantry serves area residents, most with young children, who without food donations, would not receive the nutrition they need to survive. Please help us support our community! Singers Wanted for Choral Concert

MIDDLETOWN, NJ - Singers needed for Nancy Scharff's Ecumenical Choir, for God & Country Concert/Benefit for Emmanuel Cancer Foundation. The concert will be held on Friday, June 25th, 7:30 PM, at King of Kings Lutheran Church, 250 Harmony Road, Middletown. Rehearsals are Tuesdays at 7:30 PM or Thursdays at 7:30 PM.
