Atlantic Highlands and Shrewsbury, N.J. – Dr. Julie Page, owner of Page Chiropractic Wellness Center, celebrated a major expansion to her practice with a community-wide blood drive and open house recently. The Central Jersey Blood Center ‘Bloodmobile,’ a bus equipped with four beds that can accommodate 4-8 donors at the time, was on location. The event was intended to increase awareness of the positive impact that blood donations have on public health. “My practice is all about maintaining optimal health and about achieving total body balance,” noted Dr. Page, “plus I’ve always wanted to be involved in community service and thought a blood drive would be a good way to do that.” Twenty-six pints of blood were collected, according to Central Jersey Blood Center Donor Recruitment Manager Holly Thompson. “Dr. Page did a terrific job. When someone contacts the CJBC and agrees to chair a blood drive, we make abundantly clear that the responsibility is to provide donors. Dr. Page took that message to heart and mobilized the community in an enthusiastic and organized manner,” Thompson stated. She added, “Fifty percent of our blood intake is by mobile collections, and particularly around the holidays, it’s crucial that we import blood.”
