COLTS NECK – The Friends of the Colts Neck Library in partnership with the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Kitchen are holding their first Empty Bowls Pottery Sale to create awareness and raise funds to aid in the fight against hunger.
IN conjunction with the Sale, Gifted storyteller Carol Erickson will perform songs from the Great American Songbook at the Colts Neck Library Saturday, Oct. 19, at 2 p.m.
A frequent entertainer in libraries, senior centers, clubs and restaurants throughout the north east, Erickson will be accompanied by Bob McHugh on the piano. McHugh has performed at the Count Basie Theatre, Lincoln enter, Newark Museum and New York Public Library.
The program is funded by the Colts Neck Friends of the Library and is free and open to the public without advance reservation. However, seating is on a first come first served basis,
Erickson’s repertoire will include classics from Colet Porter, Irving Berlin, and the Gershwin brothers as well as other popular composers of the 20th century.
Proceeds from the Pottery Sale will benefit both the Friends of the Library and Empty Bowls, a nationwide grass roots effort to aid those with food insecurity.
The sale will take PLACE Oct. 18, 19 and 20 in the lower gallery of the library, and features hundreds of bowls created and donated by artists, students, and members of the community. Sale and visiting hours are from 7 to 0.m. Oct. 18, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 19, and noon to 3 p.m. Sunday. Light refreshments will also be served at the Oct. 18 showing of the bowl display.
